THE Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) is currently offering a ‘Bone and Joint Promotion’ at JPMC’s Department of Orthopaedics, which will run from today (October 15) until November 29.
This was announced by Ak Danny Pengiran Tajuddin, Marketing Officer and Dr Sonali Pande, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon during a press conference held yesterday at the Board Room of JPMC.
Among the packages offered include are the Knee Pain Screening Package, priced at $200 and includes two consultations with an orthopaedic specialist and an anterior posterior/lateral lumbosacral spine x-ray.
The Back Pain Screening Package, priced at $188, includes two consultations with an orthopaedic specialist, a blood test for a full blood count and an anterior posterior/lateral lumbo sacral spine x-ray.
The Neck Pain Screening Package, also priced at $188, includes two consultations with an orthopaedic specialist, a blood test for a full blood count, and an x-ray of the cervical spine.
Patients who purchase any one of the packages will also be given a questionnaire on the screening as well as a self care and exercise guide.
JPMC is also offering the Gout Screening Package, priced at $75, that comes with a consultation with an orthopaedic specialist, a blood test and a urine FEME (full examination and microscopy examination).
There is also the Viscosupplementation priced at $1,288 which comprises a one-time consultation with an orthopaedic specialist and a procedure that involves injecting thick liquid (hyaluronate) into the knee joint afflicted with osteoarthritis. The injection replaces and restores the properties of the natural synovial fluid in the knee joint, and helps in lubrication and shock absorption.
Osteoporosis Screening Package at $418 offers a minute risk assessment and two consultation with an orthopaedic specialist, a baseline observation plus a blood test for calcium serum, phosphate serum, Vitamin D Serum and alkaline phosphatase. In addition, a urine deoxypyridinoline and diagnostically checked through CT scan (bone densitometry CT) for assessment of bone mineral density will be carried out.
“We advise everyone to take up an early screening to assess their bone and joint health conditions. Thorough examinations usually establish the diagnosis of pain that can help our medical professionals to determine the best treatments for patients,” Ak Danny said.
“Patients with bone and joint problems are recommended to stay fit, have a balanced diet, manage their weight, regularly exercises and take proper care of back and neck while carrying out day to day activities,” he added.
The last date of booking for the screening and treatment packages is on December 6.
An appointment is required for the package, where patients are advised to come 15 minutes prior to appointment. If a patient is new at JPMC, they are required to pay a one-time fee of B$10 at the Main Reception, Level 2 of JPMC. Patients must also bring their passport or identity card for registration purposes.
The Orthopaedic Department is open for consultations from Monday to Friday from 8am to 12 noon, and from 1pm to 5pm. On Saturdays, it is open from 8am to 12pm only.
