TWO foreigners who operated stalls without a licence at the Gadong night market were caught by officers in a joint operation on Tuesday night led by the BSB Municipal Board’s Law Enforcement Unit.
Other offences uncovered include immigration and labour violations.
Some 45 enforcement personnel from BSB Municipal Board, National Registration and Immigration Department and Labour Department took part in the operation that aimed to ensure the stall operators comply with business regulations as well as immigration and labour laws.
A total of four people were detained for further investigation after failing to show valid travel documents while 11 special passes were also issued to foreigners working at the stalls.
Labour enforcement personnel also found that some stall operators have misused their permits by using domestic maids to take care of the stalls.
Further investigations will be carried out.
