SOME 83 personnel, comprising officials from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Department of Religious Affairs, Immigration and National Registration Department as well as the Royal Customs and Excise Department, were involved in a joint operation in the Belait District in conjunction with the New Year celebration.
Eight violations were recorded with three cases of inappropriate vehicle conditions; two of using licence plates that do not adhere to the law; one of vehicle tyres over-sizing the mudguard; one of not showing road tax on the vehicle, and another for different coloured headlamps.
The Tutong Police Station and Temburong Police Station reported no cases.
Commencing at 10pm on December 31, the two-in-one operation included road blocks at six strategic locations organised by officials from the police stations in Kuala Belait, Labi, Seria and Sungai Liang as well as members of the Investigation and Traffic Control Department (JSKLL).
Meanwhile, another team comprising officials from the different enforcement agencies made inspections around squatter homes in the area of Kampong Api-Api, Seria as well as the foreigners’ staff houses in Kuala Balai.
The operation, which ended at 2.30am on January 1, was led by Acting Commanding Officer Superintendent Mohd Hadini bin Hj Othman.
