JERUDONG International School (JIS) students recently participated in an International Online Contest which challenged their skills in a variety of foreign languages. The competition was held from November 3-13.
The students were assessed in reading, writing, listening, dictation as well as vocabulary skills. Competitors from more than 100 schools worldwide answered over 23 million questions online in just 10 days, creating a huge buzz around language learning, thanks to the organisers, “Languageperfect.com”.
The JIS students thoroughly enjoyed competing against around 25,000 other students who are currently studying in 112 schools from 24 countries around the world. The JIS students answered 597,281 questions, learned and revised 183,320 words, placing them in 13th place. They came at 4th place for French and Malay and 10th for Spanish.
Among 29 schools in Asia, JIS came at 7th place. The best French student from JIS was Haeram Jalees who came at 3rd place out of 9,020 students worldwide.
Meanwhile, Hazirah Ahmad came at 14th place out of 6,171 students in Spanish and Alissa Yong at 8th place out of 467 students worldwide. Evan Chiam came at 15th place in Malay language out of 735 students worldwide.
