ALTHOUGH very sad to see Jerudong International School (JIS) student, Meg Henry leave JIS and Brunei in December after many years at the school, JIS Principal Barnaby Sandow was delighted to hear that Meg had been successful in her application for an English Scholarship at the Sunshine Beach State High School, Queensland, Australia.
As part of her application, Meg had to submit school reports for the past two years detailing academic achievements. In addition, reference to conduct in school and details of leadership and involvement in charities, community service and evidence of leadership also had to be included.
Meg also completed a creative short story of 500-600 words.
Mr Sandow congratulated Meg and saw the scholarship medal she had been given. “Although we are sorry to see students of excellence, such as Meg, leave JIS, we also take great pride in her achievement in gaining the scholarship as it displays yet again that JIS is a school which, as our mission statements says ‘Achieves Excellence’.
“Parents can have full confidence coming to work in Brunei that their children will receive an outstanding education in JIS which will serve as excellent preparation when they move on from Brunei,” he said.
JIS is presently receiving applications for August 2015 entry. Interested parents should contact the admissions office or visit the website www.jis.edu.bn for further information.
