THE Sentral Shopping Centre opened its doors to customers as three businesses began their operation yesterday as a part of a phase-by-phase development of the building managed by KB Sentral Property Management.
Jaya Hypermarket organised an official launching and opened its second branch located at the shopping centre as one of the largest department stores in Kuala Belait.
Customers are in for a treat as there are different limited-time promotions available for them when they shop for quality imported items offered by the department store such as groceries, fresh vegetables, fruits and fashion clothing.
The promotions include free gifts when purchases reach a specific amount in a single receipt.
Another attractive deal offered is the Purchase with Purchase Promotion where customers are entitled to buying selected items at a promotional price when purchasing $20 and above at any section of the store.
During the opening, customers were seen flocking the Food Sampling section where they got to taste products such as Kingston ice-cream, Wall’s ice-cream, Philippines ice-cream, Nestle ice-cream Goreng, Bobo fish ball and fish cake, Ayami frankfurters, Salam Mie ala Mi Goreng Jawa and Alce Nero Organic Tomato Sauce, which were offered for a short period only.
Jaya Hypermarket’s opening in Kuala Belait at the same time can provide employment especially to the locals and help expose them in the business field. This was stated in a speech by Rosmahwati binti Hj Buntar, one of the directors of the company who was present at the launching.
The Bulletin spoke to some of the employees and they said working experience is valuable in order to work in any field of as it help them to learn more about the working life and earning money.
Muhammad Sallehuddin bin Mohd Yussof, 18, a former Anthony Abell College (AAC) students in an interview thanked Jaya Hypermarket for the opportunity as he felt that this is an important stepping stone before he continues his studies at the Brunei Maritime Academy. “I feel that I am at a stage where work experience is more important than the kind of job that we have,” he said.
Another employee, Awang Mohd Syafii bin Awang Mohd Sufri, 19, said that he wished to serve in the Army and this employment is for him to use his time in the best way possible while earning money to support his family.
“I feel happy that there are a lot of customers today. We were called in to help prepare for the opening and this is definitely an achievement,” he said.
Aside from the department store, SugarBun also made its way to open their second Kuala Belait branch with the first located along Jalan Maulana. SugarBun also offers free gifts to customers with purchases made.
Snow Playground for children is another attraction launched at the shopping centre. It is the first of its kind in Borneo which gives a winter-like experience to the children.
