DEPARTMENT of Community Development (JAPEM) will meet Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) in the final of the 4th Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Deputy Minister Futsal Cup on October 1.
The stage for the final is set after DBP edged the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and JAPEM overcoming JBS ‘A’ through penalties in the last four.
With the match unable to be separated after regulation time, the duty of completing an enthralling game was left to the goalkeepers in sudden death.
Despite JAPEM’s goalkeeper heroics saving two consecutive spot-kicks, JBS ‘A’ dug their way back after their opponents missed twice on the bounce.
Both scored in the decisive spot-kicks meaning the responsibility lied on the shoulders of the fifth infield player which was the goalkeeper.
JBS ‘A’ missed and with the JAPEM’s goalkeeper taking one of his gloves off to the pitch, drilled low to the bottom corner before wheeling away in celebration to his jubilant team-mates.
JBS ‘A’ dangerman Sufri forced the match into penalties after the influential Bahrin had earlier given JAPEM an early 3rd minute lead.
Meanwhile, DBP talismanic figure Ak Abd Rahman’s free-kick strike was enough to secure a 1-0 win against MCYS in the first semi-final.
DBP’s coach Kamransah said that the semi-final was a pretty tense affair with both sides eager to be cautious of not creating blatant errors.
He rightly pointed out that Ak Abd Rahman was their key man who could deliver their team to glory.
