THE Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan, Noriko Iki, recently visited the Mechanical Training Centre in Kg Tungku.
Present to welcome her arrival at the centre was Sheikh Lukman bin Sheikh Abdul Hamid, Principal of the Mechanical Training Centre, Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE).
In his welcoming speech, Sheikh Lukman briefed on the centre’s role as one of the technical institutions under IBTE that provides skilled workforce for the nation.
Noriko Iki and staff members of the Embassy of Japan were then taken to visit the workshops in the centre including the Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) located there which are Pakar Tenaga Bersatu (PTB) and Institut de Soudure.
The visit aimed to know more about the courses offered by the centre and to further understand the role of technical education in Brunei particularly towards reducing the number of jobseekers.
