FOUR Bruneian students will be sharing Bruneian cakes, including Kueh Cincin and Kueh Kuripit, with their Japanese counterparts, during the Study Trip to Japan 2014 hosted by Japan-Brunei Friendship Association.
The four students who left Brunei Darussalam for a six-day visit to Japan are Nur Ezzah Sya’Biyah binti Sham Khiruddin from Jefri Bolkiah Engineering College, Vincent Lim Wee Sen from Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Nurhidayat binti Hj Abdullah from Institut Teknologi Brunei and Syhahienaz binti Hj Kamis from University of Sussex.
Hajah Rohayati binti Hj Awang Damit, the head of Eco Tech under Brunei-Japan Friendship Association who is also the project coordinator in Mitsubishi Corporation, is accompanying the students.
The trip will take the students to Mitsubishi Corporation, National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, Tokyo Gas Negishi LNG Terminal, Toshiba Science Museum and Waseda University. The trip will also give them an opportunity to stay at a home of a Japanese family for two days.
It’s the first visit by the students to Japan. The visit aims to bring about cultural exchanges and bridge friendship among people.
Nur Ezzah Sya’Biyah binti Sham Khiruddin and Nurhidayat binti Hj Abdullah in an interview said, “We are bringing Brunei traditional food for Japanese students to sample our unique food.
“We will also conduct a presentation about Brunei’s traditional Malay dress of Baju Kurong.”
Both said, “We hope to promote friendship between both nations through people to people exchange.”
