THE Intermediate Court yesterday imposed jail terms and caning for two local men who pleaded guilty to five counts of housebreaking for theft and retaining stolen property.
Raubanizam Hj Raub, 33, received a sentence of 40 months jail and four strokes of the cane, while Mohd Fuad bin Mohd Ibrahim, 25, received 28 months jail and two strokes.
DPP Sharon Yeo informed Judge Pg Hjh Hanani Pg Hj Metussain the duo broke into a house at Jalan Bebatik in Kilanas during the wee hours of July 13, 2011 and stole a handbag containing $4,700, an identity card, appointment card and medicine, whilst another handbag stolen contained $300, an identity card, ATM cards, student card, car keys, a Samsung hard disk and a Kingston pen drive.
Raubanizam broke into another house at Kg Bengkurong Masin, Kg Sinarubai, at about 8.50pm on October 3, 2011 and stole two bags containing costume jewelleries.
Raubanizam then dishonestly retained a stolen ring at a house in Kg Tanjong Bunut on September 13, 2011.
Both the defendants broke into a house at Kg Sg Tilong during the wee hours between December 26 and 27, 2011, and stole an Apple Macbook, iPhone 4, Apple iPad, a Samsung Netbook, digital camera, Rolex watch, Omega watch and a Apple iPod.
Raubanizam also retained a stolen 32” LG TV at a house in Kg Kiulap sometime between January to April, 2012.
