INSTITUT Teknologi Brunei (ITB) commemorated the event of Maulidur Rasul with a religious talk held at the Lecture Theatre I of the university. The guest of honour was the Acting Vice Chancellor of ITB, Associate Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman. Also in attendance were the university’s principal officers, lecturers, staff and students.
The event began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and followed by a religious talk delivered by Dr Ustaz Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakhbar, an invited speaker and lecturer from KUPU SB.
The talk emphasised on the love and the level of respect Muslims have towards Nabi Muhammad (pbuh) and his teachings.
He added that Muslims should always remember the Prophet by ‘Selawat’ and always ensure that their pronunciation of holy verses is precise.
The event was followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Imran (Verse 102) by ITB’s Counsellor, Cikgu Haji Haji bin Othman, who represented ITB in the Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran for the 100th Year Formal Education in Brunei Darussalam and the 24th Teacher’s Day 2014 celebration which took place at the Islamic Dakwah Centre, organised by the Ministry of Education.
The guest of honour also presented a souvenir to the speaker. The ceremony concluded with a Doa Selamat read by Muhammad Syazmuie bin Haji Sufri, one of the Mechanical Engineering students of the university.
