A GROUP of 142 participants comprising youths from ‘Rakan Selian’ of the Prisons Department, Syababarroja and Muslimah of Jame ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah took part in a four-day-three-night Islamic youth camp programme, which kick-started yesterday with a launching ceremony held at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong.
Present to launch the youth camp programme was the Acting Director of Youth and Sports at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), Haji Abdul Malik bin Haji Mohammad.
The event began with the recitation of the verses of the Holy Quran by Abdul Wair bin Haji Md Fauzi.
It was then followed by a welcoming remark from the chairman of the event, Ustaz Haji Haris bin Haji Suboh, who underlined that the programme will act as a platform in generating responsible, disciplined and caring youth who will devote themselves to their monarch, religion and nation.
The ceremony continued with a speech from the guest of honour who marked the commencement of the youth camp programme. The event also saw the singing of the national anthem prior to an oath recitation by the participants.
Among the activities that will be carried out throughout the camping programme include religious talk, spiritual workshops, group activities, Halaqah Zikir, sharing session and sports activities.
The objectives of the camping programme are to educate the participants with Islamic values so as to create a promising and proactive youth force for the nation as well as to acquaint them with religious programmes. At the same time, it also aims to train youth in becoming noble and disciplined individuals so as to be a good example for other peer groups.
