YEAR Two students from International School Brunei (ISB) conducted an educational visit to the Berakas Fire Station including the Women Operation Unit.
Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah also joined the visit. During the trip, students explored current firefighting techniques and compared it to old firefighting skills in 1666 as part of a History unit about The Great Fire of London.
A demonstration of the hydrant 1 procedure which included the fire women sliding down the pole and using powerful hoses to put out fires were also held.
The children also had the opportunity to try on the fire safety gear, which, in their opinion, was rather hot and heavy. To round off an enjoyable day, students took the chance to ride in the fire trucks.
Julie Smith, Assistant Head Teacher at the school said, “What a great day! The Berakas Fire Department has become a fantastic role model for our students and on behalf of ISB, I would like to thank the Director of Fire and Rescue Department and his amazing staff, for a memorable learning experience.”
