THE Embassy of Iran in Brunei Darussalam yesterday treated lunch for 50 orphans in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha at the Iranian Ambassador’s official residence in Kg Kiarong.
Accompanied by their guardians, the orphans were warmly welcomed by Iranian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Mohammad Reza Havaseli Ashtiani.
This year saw the embassy slaughtering a goat, whose meat was distributed to the orphans and other attendees including the staff of the embassy.
This was the sixth time the embassy has hosted an Aidiladha lunch for orphans, with the cooperation of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah through the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA).
The celebration of Aidiladha is one of the auspicious events in the Islamic calendar which serves to strengthen ties as well as to share joy with orphans and the less fortunate.
