AN INTERNATIONAL programme to fete the visit of Sekolah Kebangsaan Convent Kota, Taiping, Perak, and Sekolah Kebangsaan Ulu Lubai Limbang, Sarawak, was held yesterday at Lambak Kanan Jalan 49 Primary School.
The programme comprised a competition on “Eloquent Opinions”, dance and singing between the primary schools and stage performances on traditional dance.
The guest of honour was Hj Aziz bin Hj Nayan, Acting Senior Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Education. In his address, he emphasised the importance of having communication skills in both English and Malay. “The traditional singing and dance contests also provide invaluable information on their respective cultures and traditions,” he said.
He also hoped that the teachers and students between the two countries will continue to foster friendly and cordial relations, and subsequently enhance their talents and potential abilities.
In her welcoming remarks, Hjh Noorliah binti Hj Aspar, Head Teacher of the school, said the competition will generate and expose the skills and abilities of the students in giving their opinions especially in front of an audience.
The competition also included poetry contests in both English and Malay, story-telling as well as singing and dancing contests.
