THE Ash-Shaliheen camp, themed ‘Ini Pilihanku’, served as a platform to instil interest in youths to join religious activities while motivating them to adopt better mindsets to become pious citizens. It is also to answer His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s call to mould the country into a Zikir nation.
The three-day event, which was held at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), concluded with a closing ceremony yesterday at the Ash-Shaliheen Mosque. It began with a recital of the Al-Quran by one of its committee members, Muhammad Yadiy bin Haji Mat Yassin.
The guest of honour, Haji Jamil bin Haji Gani, Mosque Affairs Officer for the Brunei-Muara District, presented prizes to winners of the ‘Explorace’ game and certificates to the camp participants. A total of 81 youths comprising 34 males and 47 females aged between 16 and 21 joined the camp. Male participants were housed at Universiti Brunei Darussalam Mosque while female participants stayed at the Female Hostel Hall, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
The camp began with a registration session on Friday afternoon followed by a briefing session. On the second day, guest speakers, Ustaz Adi Aismat and Ustazah Zunainah delivered a motivational talk entitled ‘Cinta Allah pada Hambanya dan Cinta Rasul pada Umatnya’ and ‘Ini Pilihanku untuk berubah’ respectively.
The youths were also given a chance to participate in a congregational prayer, qiamulail prayer and recitation of the Al-Quran.
The main activity was the ‘Explorace’ in which participants had to complete quizzes and games at every checkpoint before the finish line. In the evening, the participants showcased their talents at the ‘Artistic Night’ based on Islamic values.
