THE Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) at the Old Airport Road in Berakas yesterday received a visit from a delegation comprising Kembara Bahasa Sabah and Sarawak members in conjunction with the celebration of Sarawak National Language Month.
This year marked Brunei DBP’s third time organising a Kembara Bahasa, led by Haji Sahari bin Haji Nasar, Head of Library.
Kembara Bahasa is an initiative to popularise the national language and literature via various linguistic, literary and cultural activities.
The programme is geared towards creating a friendly and dynamic community aware of the responsibilities of upholding the national language.
In his welcome speech, Dr Hazami Jahari, Director of the Language and Literature Bureau of Sarawak, highlighted that the programme aims to enhance passion and community pride towards the Malay language and literature as well as boost the quality in use of the Malay Language.
The ceremony then continued with a response speech by guest of honour, Hajah Nortijah binti Haji Mohd Hassan, Acting Director of DBP, Brunei Darussalam.
The ceremony was also enlivened with several performances.
