INFORMATION Department, Tutong District branch, with cooperation from the Community Relations Unit held a two-day ‘Informed Society’ programme beginning yesterday at the Tasek Marimbun Heritage Park, Tutong.
The guest of honour during the launching ceremony was Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, member of the Legislative Council.
Also present was the Acting Director of Information, Mawardi bin Haji Mohammad, as well as senior officers and staff of the Information Department.
The participants comprised members of the Mukim and village consultative councils, mosque administrative members, youth and the general community of the Mukim Ukong and Mukim Rambai.
Among the programme’s objectives were to inspire members of society in enhancing their standard of living through entrepreneurship activities and to provide information related to abuse issues and to help tackle them and how to protect from unwelcome matters.
Carrying the theme “Entrepreneurship and Abuse Issues”, the programme hoped to open the eyes and minds of the society to generate economy, which is in line with the government’s aspiration to create a dynamic and resilient economy.
At the same time, it hoped to provide information and general knowledge on issues related to abuse where the society must know their rights from the legal point of view and how to react to those who need assistance.
The programme included briefings from the Department of Community Development (JAPEM), Attorney General’s Chambers, Royal Brunei Police Force and Entrepreneurship Development Department.
The participants also had the opportunity to participate in dialogue sessions with successful entrepreneurs brought by the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), and they will be visiting Soto Rindu Restaurant and Catering and Zainal Agricultural Farm.
