Indonesian jailed for overstaying

THE Magistrate’s Court yesterday sentenced a 35-year-old Indonesian man to three months’ imprisonment with three whippings for overstaying in the country.

Matori admitted before Senior Magistrate Azrimah binti Haji Abdul Rahman that he had overstayed in the country for 672 days after the expiry of his immigration pass on March 6, 2016 until being arrested at his rented quarters at Ban 6, Jalan Kilanas Mulaut on January 8, 2018 by a team of immigration enforcement officers.

Immigration prosecutor Adi Yusra bin Haji Adanan prosecuted the case.
