A FOREIGN man is serving 12-month jail after he pleaded guilty to possession of uncustomed cigarettes and for failing to pay the $25,000 fine imposed by the Bandar Magistrate’s Court.
Indonesian Ari Suhada, 29, was arrested on December 12 by customs preventive officers at Jalan Batu Besurat where Ari lived.
Customs officers first noticed a locked waste disposal bin at his place and questioned the defendant about what was inside the bin. The defendant was found to have a total of 93 cartons, nine packets and three sticks of cigarettes, and he admitted to owning the uncustomed cigarettes.
