AN INDONESIAN national was sentenced to a $2,000 fine or two months imprisonment in default by the Bandar Magistrate’s Court yesterday for criminal breach of trust.
37-year-old Saikoni, a delivery man at the Daily Express Forwarding, admitted before Magistrate Azrimah Rahman to taking a smart phone from the company’s cargo delivery package.
DPP Dk Nurul Pg Rosli also informed the court that Saikoni committed the offence sometime on the afternoon of November 15.
The defendant was to drop of a cargo package at the Cargo services in Berakas.
The properly sealed box was attached with an invoice stating the contents, which was a Samsung Galaxy Note II, belonging to a Chinese man to be delivered to a friend in the Philippines. The Chinese man realised that the phone never reached his friend in the Philippines and lodged a complaint.
The Daily Express Forwarding investigated and the Chinese man lodged a police report to track down the phone using a GPS tracking system installed on the mobile. The defendant was arrested and the phone was recovered.
