Jakarta (dpa) – A Canadian held over child sex abuse at an international school in Jakarta is to have his detention extended pending further investigation, news reports said Friday.
Neil Bantleman, who worked as an administrator at Jakarta International School, and an Indonesian teaching assistant were detained for 60 days over allegations of child rape at the institution.
Their detention period expired Thursday.
“The dossiers have not been completed,” Heru Pranoto, the head of criminal investigations at the Jakarta police, was quoted as saying by Liputan6.com news website.
“If they still have not been completed this week, their detention will be further extended.”
Bantleman was handed papers late Thursday saying he would be detained for another 30 days, his brother Guy told Canada’s CBC News.
