NEW DELHI (dpa) – Two policemen accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in northern India were on the run Friday, a police official said.
The two constables allegedly abducted the girl from her village on Thursday, according to a complaint filed by the girl’s mother. “She said the men took her daughter to the police station in a car and raped her in a room in the station premises,” Superintendent Lallan Singh said.
“We could not complain at the local police station so we went to Badaun town to make the complaint with the police,” Times Now television quoted the victim’s mother as saying. “The two men are absconding and a search is on for them,” Singh said. “They have been suspended and if found guilty will be punished according to the law.”
The incident happend in the town of Musajhag, Badaun district, in Uttar Pradesh state.
