THE relationship between Brunei Darussalam and India throughout the years has been described as a multi-faceted cooperation and fruitful engagement.
This was mentioned by Dr Ashok Kumar Amrohi, the High Commissioner of India, during the dinner reception at the International Convention Centre marking the 66th Republic Day of India last night.
Dr Ashok Kumar Amrohi said that the relations between the two nations are excellent with bilateral trade showing a notable growth.
He cited a recent statistics stating imports of crude oil from Brunei to India exceeding $1 billion each year.
He also highlighted several milestones achieved by both countries where leaders from both nations have met in high profile meetings to discuss political and economic issues.
Attending as the guest of honour was Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Home Affairs.
Also present were members of the Foreign Diplomatic Corps, Indian expats and invited guests.
A cake-cutting ceremony was also held during the dinner.
The evening concluded with a video presentation showcasing the Republic Day celebrations held in India.
