Pusat Bahagia students get first-hand knowledge in aquaculture, seafood processing

STUDENTS of Pusat Bahagia Tutong branch recently visited Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd, a leading quality seafood producer.

The group comprised 35 students aged between 10 and 40.

Dubbed the Multi-Purpose Marine Resources Processing and Business Centre, the facility is a result of collaboration between Semaun Marine Resources Sdn Bhd and foreign direct investor Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd.

According to a press statement, the Multi-Purpose Marine Resources Processing and Business Centre commenced operations in June 2012 and pride itself as the only fully-integrated producer of seafood products in Brunei. It is also the first company to produce organic feed and breed organic blue shrimp.

The group was taken on a first-hand tour by the company’s Managing Director, Mr Richard Chuang Hsi Shan and other staff of the company.

The purpose of the visit was to give a chance to the students of Pusat Bahagia to take a closer look at the environment and activities as well as gain experience and ideas on the daily operations in various sections. Also, from the visit, it was hoped that the students and teachers will gain useful knowledge which can be used for Pusat Bahagia’s activities.

The visit was initiated by Pusat Bahagia Tutong personnel and was headed by Wan Ali Wan Ibrahim, principal of Pusat Bahagia Tutong Branch.

Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd’s main business is in aquaculture and seafood processing. It includes the farming, harvesting and processing of fish and shrimp.
