Briefing session held for 2nd BEES Programme

FOLLOWING the success of the Brunei Entrepreneurship Education Scheme (BEES) last year – the initiative being an effort by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) as well as LiveWIRE Brunei – a briefing session for participants of the 2nd BEES 2013 from 19 secondary schools throughout the country, was held at the Katok Sixth Form Centre.
The students listened to presentations from last year’s top four schools at the 1st BEES, namely Business School with the topic ‘Financial and Human Resources’; PAP Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School, Lumut with the topic ‘Business Plan & Report’; Seri Mulia Sarjana International School with the topic ‘Motivating Staff’; and Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School with their topic ‘Organisation Chart & Marketing’.
A presentation by Mohd Fadhilullah Tudun @ Hasbollah Bobby, Business Counsellor from LiveWIRE Brunei, entitled ‘Writing a Business Plan’ and ‘BEES Activities & Planning 2013’ was also delivered prior to the tour of the top four BEES Companies’ and agencies’ booths.
The programme was initiated with aims to help students develop the attitudes and skills for enterprise, personal success, lifelong learning and employability; and to stimulate the development of entrepreneurial behaviour and capability in students through education and learning.
The mission of the BEES Programme is ‘To inspire and equip students in Brunei to learn and succeed through enterprise’, where the programme intends to nurture the students to gain a practical, activity-based insight into economic and business life, as well as learn to appreciate the role of business and enterprise in our society; discover how businesses interact with investors, customers, employees and society in general; develop team work, communication, and presentation skills; build a bridge between school and the business world; and develop skills and understanding that are directly relevant to Enterprise and Work Related Learning.
