Yayasan National Sepak Takraw Cup

ATTRIBUTES of traditional sportsmanship and athleticism at its’ very best was on display yesterday following the opening ceremony of the 3rd Yayasan Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) National Sepak Takraw Cup, held in conjunction with the 29th National Day of Brunei Darussalam at the Menglait Sports Hall.
Twenty- two teams will be competing for the title, with a large contingent representing the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council with eight teams, divided into four groups.
The competition also comprised four teams from Sengkurong, three teams from the Muara Spurs, three teams from BIPA as well as two teams each from Sports School team.
The fixtures in day one were completed yesterday with players and teams resuming their challenge on the second day next Monday.
Four more matches are scheduled for this Monday, which is expected to commence at 8pm.
Present to officiate the opening ceremony of the championship was Awang Haji Puasa bin Haji Jumat, Assistant Director of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, who was the guest-of- honour.
The guest-of-honour was also introduced to team leaders by Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan bin Pengiran Haji Abbas, the President of Pestabaru (Brunei Darussalam Sepak Takraw Association).
