BPY10++ charity futsal champions

BPY10++ were crowned champions of the Charity Futsal Tournament for Gaza and the Philippines after beating JAPEM ‘C’ 3-1 in the final at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex yesterday afternoon.

Despite finishing fourth in the group stages, BPY10++ beat second-placed JAPEM ‘B‘ 2-0 in the semis to book a meeting with JAPEM ‘C’, who edged table-toppers JAPEM ‘A’ 2-1 in the other semi-final. Six teams competed in the day-long tournament, including a couple of teams from the Iranian High Commission.

The tournament was organised by the United Association, made up of various alumni from different years of the Ship for South East Asia Youth Programme.

All proceeds from the stalls and the futsal tournament registration fees will be donated to the humanitarian aid funds for Gaza and the Philippines respectively.

The guest of honour, Awang Haji Mohd Rozan bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos,the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, presented the winners with their prizes.
