Empire staff battle it out in interdepartmental games
THESE days people in the country are getting more and more health conscious and there are many ways in achieving a healthy lifestyle. One of it is through sports and there have been varieties of workouts that are becoming in trend, making it even more fun and achievable for everyone.
According to a press release, The Empire Hotel & Country Club believes in this and had emphasised this among the employees by introducing the interdepartmental sports challenge comprising games of badminton, beach soccer, volleyball, netball, tug-of-war and Zumba.
The first leg of the interdepartmental games commenced on February 25 and ended on February 27, participated by over 300 employees.
The first game of beach soccer and beach volleyball was held at the East Beach on February 25. The Engineering Department was leading in beach soccer by seven points, neck-and-neck with the Food & Beverage team.
Meanwhile in volleyball, HR/Security & Transport were tied for points with the Linen Department at three points. Badminton mix double, double female and double male were led by the Food & Beverage service team at 15 points, while for netball was six points by Food & Beverage Kitchen and HR/Security & Transport team. The third day ended with tug-of-war, led by the Housekeeping Department.
Winners from the interdepartmental games will meet again at the games’ grand finale, which will be held by end of the year.
“We are excited that our team members are thrilled on the events that are organised. We will be there to support a healthier workforce physically & mentally,” said Ms Corina Anne Zuzartee, Director of Human Resources of The Empire Hotel & Country Club.
