Restaurant closed down for poor hygiene

A RESTAURANT in Tutong town was shut down yesterday after the cleanliness of the premises was deemed unsatisfactory. It will only resume business after the cleanliness level reaches 71 per cent as prescribed by the Food and Quality Division of the Health Services Department.

The move was made following a joint operation made by the Enforcement Unit of the Tutong Municipal Department along with the Halal Food Control Division of the Religious Affairs Department, Fire and Rescue Department and the Heath Services Department of Tutong District. The operation was codenamed ‘Ops Bantu 2/2013’.
Restaurant owners are urged to maintain the cleanliness of their premises especially in food handling. Enforcement personnel will continue to conduct inspections under the jurisdiction of the Tutong Municipal Department.
