The guest of honour was Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman, the Minister of Religious Affairs, accompanied by his wife Datin Hjh Halimah binti Haji Mohd Taib.

The evening began with the playing of the national anthems of both countries.

In true celebratory fashion, the anniversary cake was duly cut by the Minister of Religious Affairs and Mr Mubarak Al-Shorian accompanied by their respective spouses.

The National Day marks the creation of Kuwait as a nation in 1961, whilst Liberation Day has its significance in the history of Kuwait to mark its liberation from Iraq’s invasion on February 26, 1991.
