Tutong bag five silat gold medals

TUTONG District team emerged victorious after bagging five gold medals in the final round of the Brunei Darussalam Pencak Silat (Malay Traditional Martial Arts) Tournament in conjunction with the 29th National Day.

Eleven final rounds took place at the Tutong Sports Complex yesterday, including categories for men in Classes A, C, E, F, G, H, I and J and Classes A, B and C for women.

Five of the categories were won by the Tutong District team – men classes C, G, H, I and K. Meanwhile, the School Sports Council bagged two gold medals in the Class F for men and Class C for women.

The Belait District team also bagged two gold medals in Class A for men and Class B for women. The Brunei-Muara District and Temburong District also bagged one gold medal each in

Class E for men and Class A for women.

In the final of the Class A men category, Belait District team, represented by Ak Mohd Saiful Azri bin Pg Iskandar defeated Muhd Budriz bin Zaiani from Tutong District with a count of 3-0.

For Class C men category, Mohd Zul Hafifi Izwan bin Mohd Tamin from Tutong won easily over Andul Rahim bin Sofian from Belait District. For Class E men category, the gold medal was won by Mohd Hafizuddin bin Haji Alidi from Brunei Muara District after defeating Mohd Amirul Asri bin Haji Ali Amzah from Tutong with a count of 3-0.

In the Class F men category, it was an easy win for Muhd Badrul Nurehsan bin Rozi from the School Sports Council over Tutong representative Mohd Hazami bin Mohd Ali.

For the Class G men category, Mohd Fatullah bin Haji Ahmad from the Tutong District bounced back to add to Tutong District’s victory after defeating Muhd Zul Faizal bin Zainidi from the Sports School Council with a count of 3-0.

Meanwhile, in Class H category for men, once again, Tutong representative Mohd Fakhrul bin Roslee easily won over Brunei-Muara’s Saiful Adli bin Ali Hassan. In class I category for men, Muhammad Arrsyad bin Hassan from Tutong defeated Yusri bin Farham from Belait with a count of 3-0.

Tutong’s victory continued when Muhammad Arrafie bin Hassan bagged the fifth gold medal for his team after defeating Muhd Adi Fazrullah bin Abu Bakar from the Belait District with a count of 3-0 in the Class J category for men.

Other results during the final rounds yesterday for Class B women, Siti Shazareen binti Hanifah from Belait District easily won over Brunei-Muara’s Nurul Aimi Amalidy binti Zainidi with a count of 3-0.

In Class C category women, Siti Nabila binti Ali from the School Sports Council defeated Emma Azrina binti Haji Siraba from Tutong District with a count of 3-0.

The final round will continue today for categories Class B and D for men at 2.30pm to be followed with the closing ceremony.
