Closing of Congkak and Pasang Game Workshop

A CLOSING ceremony for the Congkak and Pasang Game Workshop for Teachers from Primary Schools and Secondary Schools and College Compatriots Year 2013 was held yesterday at the Ruang Legar, Co-Curriculum Education Department.

The five-day workshop was organised by the Co-Curriculum Education Department in collaboration with the Museums Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Zamany bin Hj Md Rais from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School emerged as the champion for the Pasang Game, beating Hamramsah bin Hj Tuah, a teacher from Pg Jaya Negara Pg Hj Abu Bakar Secondary School in Mumong.

Souvenirs were presented to the champion and runners-up by the guest of honour, the Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education, Pg Suhaimi bin Pg Hj Bakar. The guest of honour also presented certificates and souvenirs to 63 teachers and officers from the Museums Department.

Yesterday’s ceremony began with a recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and a thanksgiving prayer, followed by welcoming remarks from the event’s chairman, the Head of Art and Culture, Awg Mohd Sofri bin Hj Mohd Said. Also in attendance were the Acting Assistant Director, Awg Roslin bin Suhailee, senior officers and officers from the Co-Curriculum Education Department, along with secondary school teachers and college compatriots.

The workshop’s main objective was to increase art knowledge and skills among the teachers who learnt the traditional games of Congkak and Pasang.
