Sweating for a good cause

More than 200 people came together to sweat for a good cause in the Charity Zumba, held to raise funds for the victims who lost their homes in the Kampong Setia ‘A’ fire.

The guest of honour who attended the 120-minute Zumba session was Datin Paduka Hjh Adina binti Othman, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Also in attendance were YAM Pengiran Muda Abdul Mu’min as well as Hj Jamian bin Momin, the Brunei-Muara District Officer and other officials from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

YAM Pengiran Muda Abdul Mu’min and participants taking part in the Charity Zumba yesterday to raise funds for the residents who lost their homes in a recent fire in Kampong Setia ‘A’, Kampung Ayer.

The event is one of the charity activities organised by the Youth and Sports Department supported by Zumba Fitness.

Led by Susan Leung, owner of Susan Fitness Studio, the participants was able to followed the Zumba move accompanied by the upbeat music.

Other activities that are scheduled to take place in the effort to raise funds for victims of the Kampong Setia ‘A’ fire are the Charity Golf which starts on March 1 to 3 at Pantai Mentiri Golf Club, a Cycling Expedition (18.2km) and Charity Run (5km) on March 9 at the Dermaga Diraja Bandar Seri Begawan and a Charity Futsal on April 5 to 7 in the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium Complex.

The public can take part in the Cycling Expedition and Charity Run by obtaining the registration form at the Sports Section, 6th floor of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports or at the Brunei-Muara District Office.

The closing date for registration is February 25 at 4.30pm. Each participant will have to pay a fee of $20 that includes a free T-shirt.

For the Charity Golf event, the registration form can also be obtained at the Sports Section, 6th floor of Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports or at the Brunei-Muara District Office.

Non-members of the Pantai Menitiri Golf Club will have to pay $100 while members will only need to pay $80.

The closing date for the Charity Futsal registration falls on March 30. The registration form can be obtained from the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam. Each team will have to pay a fee of $150.
