Heading a 10-member entourage, HRH Tengku Muhammad Fa-iz Petra, who is also the President of the Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council of Kelantan (MAIK), was given the opportunity to learn the literature of MAIK’s Bruneian equivalent, the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB), which was briefly presented by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman, during his welcoming remarks to start the happy occasion.

Set within a formal meeting hall that saw the attendance of senior government officials to include members of MUIB, Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad, in his capacity as the President of MUIB, explained that though the religious organisation possesses the highest authority in the country, “it does not hold absolute power”, as that exclusively belongs to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

For the benefit of HRH Tengku Muhammad Fa-iz Petra and guests, the minister explained that MUIB is a body that enacts legislative rules and regulations that are concerned with Islamic affairs and set the administration’s direction of the Islamic faith within Brunei.

The royalty’s visit, the minister expressed, is hoped to further strengthen the relationship between MUIB and MAIK and, in general, the relationship between Brunei and Kelantan, Malaysia.

Following the meeting, HRH Tengku Muhammad Fa-iz Petra was also given a tour of the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah that included a mass Asar prayer and a closer look at the structure and facilities that are integrated into the mosque for the benefit of the Muslim congregation.
