DPMM FC lose again in Vietnam

|     Jake Ten     |

DPMM FC lost their third pre-season friendly game in a row after slipping to a 2-1 defeat against Saigon Xuan Thanh FC.

The sultanate’s only professional club started brightly after Portuguese striker Joao Vitor Rocha De Carvalho Moreira netted the opening goal in their first friendly against Don Thap on Sunday, but ended up losing the match 3-1.

They lost their next game the following day by a solitary goal to TP Ho Chi Minh FC.

It could be argued that fatigue played a role in their poor results, considering that they only arrived in Ho Chi Minh City at midnight on Saturday, before having to endure a three hour ride from the hotel to the match venue and playing three games in the space of four days.

The S League runner-ups were in Vietnam to prepare for their S League opener against Home Unite on February, and it is clear for all to see that head coach Vjeran Simunic has his work cut out for him to whip his boys back into title-contending shape.
