UNDERGRADUATES from Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) participated in a session on various google technologies yesterday, which was facilitated by Rahimah Hj Mohd Yusof, Co-Manager of the Google Developer Group (GDG) Brunei.
According to the group, most of the components and platforms built by Google are meant to provide opportunities for students of higher learning institutions whilst enhancing their knowledge beyond the classrooms. These ‘open technologies’ come in many forms and often do not require payment.
“As part of our ‘sharing knowledge’ programme, I would like to share my experiences garnered from the recent GDG Summit in Hyderabad, India including other events previously organised. Through this session, it is hoped that we can stay on par with technology and I believe the students are capable of developing apps and broaden their knowledge whilst keeping updated with the latest Google technologies,” said Rahimah.
The group is working collaboratively with GDG Women Brunei and will organise more activities to provide further exposure for young developers whilst building more women developers.
Activities such as Jack-a-thon, Codelabs, MADKids (Mobile Application Development for Kids), Cipcakes meetup, and Earth Hour are several events hosted by other GDG across the globe.
“In Brunei, we will ensure that events related to Google technologies are organised within the local context,” she concluded.
