Dong Thap FC beat DPMM FC in friendly match

|     Jake Ten     |

DPMM FC slumped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Dong Thap FC in the first of three pre-season friendlies in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.

DPMM FC started off brightly, with Azwan Salleh’s cross from the left met by Joao Vitor Rocha De Carvalho Moreira in the 35th minute to open the scoring. The goal was Joao’s third in three competitive starts and DPMM FC fans will be hoping his scoring run continues when the Great Eastern YEO’s S League kicks off later this month.

Huynh Thien Nhan equalized for the home team just before the break with a well-struck effort from just outside the box.

Dong Thap FC took the lead in the 55th minute when Michael Mensah found himself in a one-on-one situation with Wardun Yussof, the Ghanaian forward emerging as the victor on this occasion.

The Vietnamese First Division side added a third five minutes from time to deny DPMM FC that elusive first pre-season win.

DPMM FC will next play TP Ho Chi Minh FC today, and will close out their trip with an encounter against Saigon Xuan Thanh FC on February 6.
