683 cartons of cigarettes nabbed

In what appeared to be one of the biggest raids of the year, the Preventive Section of the Royal Customs and Excise Department recently foiled a 40-year-old local’s attempt to smuggle a total of 683 cartons of contraband items comprising a variety of low-cost cigarette brands at an open space close to the Badan Tanmiah Kuala Lurah Filling Station.
The local male had been taken for custody for investigation and will be charged under Excise Order 2006.
With regards to the incident, the Royal Customs and Excise Department has informed members of the public acquiring information pertaining to such activities to contact the customs hotline at 8714422 or 2382422.
