MOHD Shahjohan bin Hj Shari’s four goals helped the Youth and Sports Department (JBS) to a 6-2 victory over the History Centre during the final of the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports Cup which was almost washed out by last night’s bout of heavy rain at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
A second minute daisy cutter from Sufri bin Tanjong caught the History Centre goalkeeper off-guard, who could do no more than help the ball on its way into the net.
Md Shahjohan bin Hj Shari reacted fastest to a rebound to put JBS 2-0 up in the 15th minute, and the midfielder continued where he left off in the second half, connecting with a cross to make it 3-0 11 minutes after the restart.
Md Shahjohan completed his hat-trick on the hour mark, heading home from close range, and four minutes later it was five after Md Shahjohan’s effort found the roof of the net.
Tahir bin Hj Md Salleh added a sixth, rolling the ball home after some unselfish play from his teammate in the 80th minute.
Azamain Hj Masri was awarded for his good individual performance, tapping the ball into the net off a rebound in the 83rd minute, and Zainal Abidin bin Hj Masri bagged a second consolation goal for the History Centre three minutes from time.
The guest-of-honour, Awang Yahya bin Haji Metussin, Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, presented the prizes to the winners.
