LegCo member contributes $8,000 to Kg Ayer fire victims

A MEMBER of the community yesterday contributed $8,000 for the purpose of lessening the burden of the victims of the recent fire outbreak in Kampung Ayer.

Legislative Council member Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin presents $8,000 to the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah receiving on behalf of the Kampong Ayer fire victims. – SYAFIQ AFFENDY

Legislative Council member Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin, who is also the Managing Director of Goh Hock Kee, contributed a total of $8,000 to the victims, which was accepted on their behalf by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Present at the ceremony was the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Haji Ismail bin Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Setia Dato Paduka Haji Hashim; the Director and officers of the Community Development Department.

According to the minister, members of the public are welcome to make donations of their own as no special funds have been set up.
