Discussions held to improve mosque image

A MOSQUE plays a crucial role in the life of Muslims. Aside from being a place of worship, it is also the centre for the development of knowledge and community activities that contribute to the development and unity of the Ummah.

This was said by Ustaz Hj Abd Rajid bin Md Salleh, Acting Director of Mosque Affairs in a discussion with officers and staff of mosques held yesterday at the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque in the Belait District.

“To achieve this aim, the management of a mosque must be systematic, efficient and friendly to congregation, which in turn enables a mosque to attract more members of the public to visit mosques. In addition, the Belait District acts as a transit point or an entry point for foreigners and locals to enter the country. With that, mosques should portray an image that is friendly to the visitors, is clean and have a pleasant ambience, and not otherwise” he added.

The discussions are a platform for staff at mosques nationwide to raise issues that are faced by their respective mosques as part of an effort to improve the administrative structure in mosques for the purpose of increasing leadership qualities. Ustaz Hj Abd Rajid also visited a few mosques to examine the administrative, finance and physical conditions of buildings, as well as the activities being conducted in mosques.
