Rennovo Solutions makes valuable contribution to MKJB

Jefri Bolkiah Engineering College (MKJB) yesterday received two Kipp & Zonen Pyranometers donated by local company Rennovo Solutions Sdn Bhd in an official handing over ceremony at the Department of Technical Education in Gadong.
The equipment, which will benefit technical students in their solar research or project, was handed over by Rennovo Solutions Chairman Haji Sapawi bin Bolhassan to the guest of honour at the ceremony, Hajah Mariah Haji Ab Manaf, Acting Assistant Director of the Department of Technical Education, Ministry of Education (MoE).
The Pyranometer is an instrument to measure solar radiation flux density. It is equipped with solar radiation sensors that can be applied in scientific grade solar radiation observations and measurements.
MKJB Principal Habib Mohamad bin Haji Wan Junaidi in his welcoming remarks thanked Rennovo Solutions for its generosity and highlighted the importance of communication and interaction between technical institutions and the private sector in aligning the learning and industrial needs for the benefit of the country.
He added that as the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) needs to keep up with technological advancement and remain relevant, involvement from the private sector is crucial.
“The private sector needs to be involved at various stages, such as giving inputs on curriculum content, providing places for students’ and instructors’ industrial attachment, facilitating industry-specific training, providing opportunities for on-the job-training, and donating equipment that are of industry standard that would otherwise be costly for vocational and technical institutions to acquire,” he explained.
The principal also called on other companies with immense potential to assist TVETs in Brunei by doing similar. The donated instruments will be utilised by MKJB’s Diploma students from the Electronic and Mechatronics Engineering Department, Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Department, and Process Engineering Department for their final year project.
This will also gear students to pursue alternative power source through solar energy, which aligns with national aspirations towards diversification and greener technology.
