GFCF coordinates special run clinic for young participants

GETFIT CrossFit (GFCF), official fitness partner of the Standard Chartered Half-Marathon Brunei 2013 hosted a special run clinic on January 27 for younger participants of the event, aged between seven and 12 years old.

The event was held at the GetFit CrossFit Box in Beribi and participants were taught a series of warm-up exercises and circuit trainings to build strength and endurance. At the same time, fun games such as Dragon Tails and Follow the Leader were also incorporated.

Gavin Sekhon from GetFit CrossFit said, “The ‘GetFit Kids’ session turned out great! We always operated with the belief that parents in Brunei would be enthusiastic about exposing their children to exercising functional fitness. We are glad that this seems to be true. Many of the children were eager to participate in the workouts and asked great questions. We hope that those who participated realise that being active is essential and fun and can be done as a family. It is truly encouraging to see how well this clinic was received and we hope to be able to roll out more in the near future.”

Meanwhile, Jennifer Kang, Head of Corporate Affairs and Marketing of Standard Chartered Bank said, “Standard Chartered Bank has a strong focus on sustainability and giving back to the communities in which we operate. Through this run, we will not only be promoting healthy, balanced lifestyles but also, giving back to autism via SMARTER and Learning Ladders and sight via Seeing is Believing. This first fitness and run clinic worked out really well and we look forward to featuring more of such events together with GetFit CrossFit for all our participants in the weeks leading up to the Half-Marathon.”
