Muslims come together at Maulud procession in Tutong

THE national-level Maulud procession in the Tutong District saw a participation of 5,974 individuals comprising government officers and staff, personnel from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) from both the Tutong and Penanjong Camps, Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and the Fire & Rescue Department.

The procession was also participated by village residents, members of various associations, school students and members of the private sector.

The Maulud procession in the Tutong District yesterday was led by the guest of honour, Dato Paduka Awg Hj Shofry bin Hj Abdul Ghafor, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Maulud procession began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed with the introduction of participating teams to the guest of honour.

Prior to the procession, a Dikir performance was led by students from Ma’had Islam Brunei, Tutong District.

The procession began at the field of the Tutong District Civic Centre. A separate gathering was held for women at the multi-purpose hall of the Tutong Civic Centre.

The guest of honour at the women’s religious gathering was Datin Dyg Hjh Misnah binti Hj Daud, wife of the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The highlight at the special women’s gathering was a religious lecture by Ustazah Hjh Zaleha binti Hj Ibrahim.
