The proposed project of a mega bridge construction linking Brunei-Muara and Temburong is currently not on the 10th National Development Plan (NDP) 2012-2017.

This was revealed by Haji Abdul Amin bin Haji Hashim, the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Economic Planning and Development, during a question-and-answer session at the French Bruneian Business Association’s talk on the 10th National Development Plan yesterday.

Responding to a question from one of the participants with regards to the bridge, he added, “We have to wait for development in the next few months, but at the moment the proposal of the new bridge is not in our list on the 10th National Development Plan.

“As I mentioned, we are receiving new proposals and projects that are deemed to have higher priority. Therefore, the mega bridge project may or may not be included in the National Development Plan.”

He also pointed out that, “the cost of building the mega bridge linking Brunei-Muara and Temburong may be too huge for the 10th National Development Project.”
