AS PART of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam’s (BIBD’s) contribution towards the development of local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the country, BIBD through its institutional banking arm yesterday organised a special talk on “Launching Businesses: Lesson from Expert Entrepreneurs”.
The event attracted some 30 participants from UBD, ITB, BINA, BEDB and the i-Centre as well as some BIBD corporate clients.
Anne Valerie Ohlsson Carboz, Associate Director of the Case Writing Initiative at Singapore Management University, delivering her talk
With the understanding that the importance of creativity and innovations cannot be translated into real business value, the talk was held to motivate and spur interested parties into becoming the successful SMEs that Brunei would be proud to be called ‘homebred’ and one day may even go beyond the country’s border.
The talk was conducted by Anne Valerie Ohlsson Carboz, Associate Director of the Case Writing Initiative at Singapore Management University, and also a business author, strategy consultant as well as an executive education professional.
Anne Valerie has also co-authored several books with her latest being an entrepreneurship textbook targeted towards both practitioners and students.
The Associate Director of the Case Writing Initiative at Singapore Management University has written for Sloan Management Review and the Financial Times Handbook of Management as well as publishing a substantial number of case studies.
The delegates from the Case Writing Initiative of Singapore Management University are in Brunei to conduct a two-day Case Writing Workshop organised by the Faculty of Business, Economic and Policy Studies (FBEPS), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) for the first time with the support of BIBD.
