Dave Grohl debuted his Sound City Players supergroup with a three-hour set at the weekend.

The multi-instrumentalist performed with his all-star backing band at the Sundance Film Festival’s Park City Live event in Utah.

Stevie Nicks and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor were among the 17 guests who joined the Foo Fighters singer on stage to play a selection of hits including Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’ and ‘Gold Dust Woman’ and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Born on the Bayou’ and ‘Keep on Chooglin’.

Tracks from the soundtrack to Dave’s ‘Sound City’s film were also given an airing, as Dave guided the crowd through the history of the Californian studio, as well as his own musical development.

Talking at the accompanying film’s premiere, Dave discussed the studio’s impact on him.

He said: “I consider this to be the most important thing I’ve ever done, artistically, of all the albums I’ve made, of all the bands I’ve had the pleasure of being in.

“I really feel like the Sound City movie, its intention is to inspire the next generation of kids to fall in love with music as much as I did.”
