SMARTER gears up for 17 Hills Challenge
THE second climb training session for the upcoming SMARTER Brunei Charity 17 Hills Challenge, to be held on February 3, took place yesterday at Tasek Lama Recreational Park.
According to a press release, the practice climb began at 7am with a briefing on the route and safety measures by the chairman of the event, Major Talip.
The route took the participants from Tasek Lama to Bukit Serubing, passing Karamunting and Markucing. Registrations were opened to the public at two separate venues namely Bukit Shahbandar and Tasek Lama.
Majority of the participants completed the route, defeating the challenges of the 8km walk and steep hills along the way.
“These different endeavours represent the challenges faced by SMARTER in the last 11 years and the six years to come. Despite the odds, we can defy the difficulties ahead through working together and supporting each other.
“So long as the community stays united in supporting SMARTER, we will continue to stand strong and remain positive in every aspect. The society has and always will be the backbone of our organisation and every individual with autism has been the heart of our establishment,” SMARTER Brunei said.
The third and last practice before the actual event will be held on January 27 with the starting point at Mentiri at 7am, followed by Serdang at 8am and finally Bukit Pancaran at 9am. Registrations will also be opened at the following venues from 7am – 9am: Bukit Shahbandar and Tasek Lama.
