PUSAT Tingkatan Enam Meragang (PTEM) recently held an encore performance of its well-crafted “Silhouette” production.

After performing beautifully for the British High Commissioner and invited guests at the Orchid Garden Hotel a week ago, students of the Music Club brought their music to the PTEM stage.

Hundreds of students had the chance to see and hear a mixture of poetic renditions interspersed with popular musical numbers.

The principal of PTEM, Dayang Chong Li Chen believed that “this is the first time in Brunei there [has been] a recital that merges poetry and music in English medium”. She further enthused that she admired “the students’ enthusiasm in performing and presenting such a challenging literary genre”.

The members of the Music Club comprised of Md Amirun Amin bin Md Ismail, Md Naqib Dzaki Iqbal bin Awg Daud, Md Azri bin Kamaludin, Md Akmal Shafiq bin Matjali, Ak Abd Ha’Adii Sufi bin Pg Hj Abd Latip, Hasnaa Hazirah binti Abd Halid, Afiqah Naqiah binti Hj Mahrub, Dk Nurul Hidayatul Aqilah binti Pg Ibrahim, Nuratikah Syazwani binti Hj Suhaili, Nur Atiqah Nabilah binti Kasnon, Sri Nurul Syahirah binti Hj Awg Faisal, Siti Khairunnisa binti Mohammad, Md Haziq bin Hj Abd Ghani, Nurul Farhanah binti Hj Suhaili, Nor Nadeerah binti Hj Mohd Suhardi, Md Wafiy bin Norhalim, and Ethan Kiat Foong Lai.

They were coached and assisted by a number of teachers who were clearly very proud of their efforts.

The audience joined in clapping and singing along with a number of the well known songs including a medley – O Kanak Kanak, Pak Saloi, Burung Kakak Tua and Seantero Dunia.

Pauline Chin conducted one great number with gusto, and Hjh Sorianasalwa binti Hj Mornie also sang on stage.

The principal, teachers and students involved were grateful to the Brunei Music Society for their assistance with logistics, and it is hoped the Music Club can go on to produce other great performances.
